Who We Are

COPE Kids is a non-profit organization that formed in January 2022 in anticipation of further lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim was to create a more equitable and coordinated mental health support system for children, youth and families in the community, particularly those experiencing moderate to severe impairment. A child and/or family in distress must also demonstrate financial need and meet the eligibility requirements to obtain services. For eligible families, COPE Kids provides free evidence-based psychological and mental health services that are both trauma- and culturally-informed. COPE Kids is currently in the process of applying for charity status and services continue to expand as more funding is acquired. Ongoing development of COPE Kids as a multi-disciplinary training and research institution will ensure the sustainability of this organization’s mission, values, and goals, as well as assist with the recruitment and retention of qualified practitioners to ensure fair and equitable hiring practices.
